Multimedia Instructional Design

This project was built using the new Adobe Captivate for a real client. The project consists of teaching individuals the practice of a personal outreach method called soul-winning. The subject matter expert (SME) use the illustration of a butterfly lifecycle to show how a person develops through the stages of soul-winning.

I worked with the SME to create the scripts, build the set, filmed and edited the multi-cam video lesson, created additional videos using AI (HeyGen), created the knowledge checks and quizzes, and created all graphics for the module.

The target audience for this training is the church attendee who wants to learn how to be more effective in their outreach.

By relating a butterfly’s development cycle (activation), students will be able to recall the stages of a soul-winner. The objective of this course it to instruct the learners in the proper techniques of soul winning.

A learner will achieve the learning outcome when they are able to identify the different stages of soul-winning (application) and how properly execute each individual stage (integration).

This course is based on an existing in-person training course and has been adapted to be delivered as an e-Learning module. There were many challenges in converting this type of class. It forced us to think about how we can take the typical interactions that a live instructor has with an audience

While the main content of the course was done by the SME, it was my task to apply proper learning methodologies to the content to make it an effective learning experience. I used Merrill’s First Principles of Instruction as the guide in creating the learning module for delivery of the material.

As seen in the module flowchart, I designed the course to follow Merrill’s FPI and deliver a media rich learning experience that instructs the learner and assess the effectiveness of the training through knowledge checks, quizzes, and projects submitted to the SME.
